25 Years of Funding Excellence
It’s hard to believe it has been 25 years since Jim Valvano took the ESPYS stage and delivered one of the most iconic speeches of all-time. His speech still produces goosebumps each time we watch. There are so many different parts of Jim’s speech that resonate with people, and for different reasons. However, for us, the line that hits home is: “It may not save my life. It may save my children’s lives. It may save someone you love.”
While we are proud of the past 25 years, we are focused on the future and how we can continue to gain momentum.
For the past 25 years, the V Foundation for Cancer Research has worked to save someone you love. Since that speech, the Foundation has awarded over $200 million in grants that have funded groundbreaking research and exciting new treatments. Thanks to our founding partners, ESPN, our many corporate partners and supporters, and each and everyone one of you who has ever donated, volunteered or assisted the V Foundation, we have formed an all-star team with one goal in mind: Victory Over Cancer.
As we celebrate our 25th anniversary this year, we’ll be sharing special content that features many important figures in the fight against cancer. Each month, we’ll have a new blog written by someone who has played a key role in the V Foundation’s efforts to fund critical, life-saving research. Make sure you also follow us on our social media channels (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) to check out our “25 for 25” video series, where 25 influential members of the V Foundation team will share their thoughts on why research is so important. We also hope you’ll participate in the conversation!
This year, we’ll look back fondly on the accomplishments of the last 25 years. We hope you’ll join us. And while we are proud of the past 25 years, we are focused on the future and how we can continue to gain momentum. So, while we take a look back, we’ll also look forward to new research breakthroughs, to new treatments and to Victory Over Cancer.
