Prior to being named President of ESPN, Inc. and Co-Chairman of Disney Media Networks in 2012, John Skipper spent 14 years contributing to ESPN, Inc.’s explosive growth.

Skipper joined ESPN, Inc. in 1997 after nearly seven years at Disney Publishing. Under Skipper’s leadership, ESPN, Inc. has set records for television ratings and digital consumption. The network has also negotiated several major rights agreements with organizations such as the NFL, NBA, MLB, FIFA, the Masters Tournament, USTA, Wimbledon and several college conferences. As ESPN, Inc.’s Executive Vice President of Content, Skipper oversaw the network’s television, digital, print and advertising sales. In his first year as President, Skipper finalized a series of long-term, multi-platform agreements with major distributors Cablevision, Cox Communications, Charter Communications and AT&T U-Verse.

With the desire to fulfill ESPN, Inc.’s mission to serve sports fans and to grow the network’s audience, Skipper has overseen the evolution of the critically acclaimed ESPN Films sports documentary series and espnW, a multiplatform digital initiative intended to better serve female sports fans.
