Since 2006 the brothers of Delta Chi Fraternity, Inc. have dedicated countless hours to their partnership with The V Foundation for Cancer Research. With over 70 chapters involved in fundraising, Delta Chi has raised nearly $500,000 for the Foundation and generously donated three grants. Delta Chi Fraternity’s core values are friendship, character, justice, and education – each of which have been exemplified in the brothers’ support of The V Foundation.
The brothers of Delta Chi have worked together as a team over the past seven years to support the funding of cancer research. From Florida State University’s Earthball to University of Maryland’s Delta Chi Movers to Arizona State University’s Pancake Social, these dedicated young men have worked together to spread the word on their respective campuses and to fuel the fight against cancer. Check out all upcoming Delta Chi events here.
The Delta Chi brothers’ commitment to exemplifying strong character – defined as the qualities which set a person apart – is evident across the states. Here’s just one example, Seth Rabatin, Scott Hamlin, Anthony Severino and Cameron Mallory all graduated from Marshall University May, 2012, but not without leaving their mark. These young men biked 618 miles from West Virginia to the Delta Chi headquarters in Iowa to raise awareness and money for The V Foundation. Now that’s what we call character!
The Delta Chi Fraternity recognizes the prevalence of cancer among its own communities and partnered with The V Foundation for Cancer Research as their International Philanthropy. International President Miles Washburn said, “Delta Chi is proud to be part of Jimmy’s Team, spreading the word of hope for a cure, and having The V Foundation to help bring justice to all of those who are affected. I encourage everyone to become engaged in The V Foundation and get involved.”
The V Foundation has awarded more than $100 million to cancer research since 1993. Former basketball coach Jim Valvano, with the help of ESPN, formed The V Foundation after being diagnosed with cancer at only 46 years old. Jimmy V had an infectious passion for life and believed research was the solution to the fight against cancer. Today Delta Chi helps keep that passion alive by supporting research and education through their time and effort fundraising and fighting for the cause.
