The V Foundation for Cancer Research and the Atlanta Friends of V are happy to announce the seventh annual Jimmy V Atlanta Celebrity Golf Classic, taking place May 3, 2010 at the Cherokee Town and Country Club in Sandy Springs, GA.  

This year's event will be hosted  by Atlanta favorites, Coach Bobby Cremins and Coach Dan Reeves.  Every foursome will be paired with a celebrity in this exciting tournament!

The V Foundation’s support for cancer research efforts in the Atlanta area represent an unusual type of support for pilot projects (seed grants) aimed at bringing together groups of cancer researchers from two institutions, Emory University and Georgia Tech. The purpose of this seed grant program is to develop initial phases of innovative, cutting edge technologies in cancer diagnosis and treatment by integrating the complementary research strengths of the two institutions.

In 2008, The V Foundation announced a $500,000 grant to establish the Garry Betty Foundation and The V Foundation Chair in Cancer Nanotechnology at Georgia Tech.

Previous grants have helped support the development of the ACuRay^TM computer chip. The proceeds of this year’s event will support the initial phase of using this technology to develop a system for the early detection and diagnosis of head and neck cancer.
