Team Up With The V Foundation to Show Your Spirit! In the Fight Against Cancer
Show Your Spirit! Runs March 18, 2010 Through April 6, 2010

The V Foundation for Cancer Research, one of the nation’s leading cancer research fundraising organizations, announces that registration is underway for the annual Show Your Spirit! campaign to raise funding and awareness for cancer research during college basketball tournament season.  Starting the first two days of the playoff, Thursday and Friday, March 18-19th, and running through the final championship game on Tuesday, April 6th, companies, schools and organizations nationwide are encouraged to “team up with Jimmy V” by holding their own “Show Your Spirit Day” while supporting their favorite teams.

“Show Your Spirit is a way for everyone to be involved in the fight against cancer while celebrating this great time of year,” said V Foundation CEO Nick Valvano.  “Everyone enjoys supporting their favorite team.  But in the fight against cancer, we all play on the same team.  Working together, we can make a significant contribution to cancer research.”

To participate, each organization registers online at jimmyv.org/showyourspirit and can choose any day during the tournament to have their own Show Your Spirit day.  Once registered, The V Foundation will send out an official kit that will help each “team” organize a successful Show Your Spirit day.  With a minimum $5 donation to The V Foundation, participants earn the right to wear their favorite team apparel to work or school.  “Don’t Give Up…Don’t Ever Give Up!” buttons will be distributed to each participant to visibly commemorate and remind others of the continued need to fund cancer research.

Current statistics reveal that cancer kills one American every minute of every day or about 1,500 people every twenty-four hours.  Cancer is a disease that will eventually affect every American family in some way.  As tournament brackets go up on walls nationwide and fans wait in anticipation of the first tip-off, they can team up together to help fund cancer research.
