It’s easy, it’s fun, and you can make a difference!  Get started:

REGISTER. . . your business, school or organization online at jimmyv.org/showyourspirit.  -- some may choose to participate early, during conference tournaments and that's fine too!).  Once registered, you will receive your official SHOW YOUR SPIRIT kit that includes all the materials you’ll need for a successful campaign.

ORGANIZE . . . your campaign by selecting your own SHOW YOUR SPIRIT day – anytime during the college basketball tournaments – March 18 through April 6, 2010.  Pick a day that works for you -- some may choose to participate early, during conference tournaments, and that's fine too!

TEAM UP
. . . invite everyone to donate $5 minimum to The V Foundation for Cancer Research.  Each participant gets to wear their favorite team gear to work or school on your SHOW YOUR SPIRIT day.

SHOW YOUR SPIRIT. . .for cancer research and your favorite team.  You don’t have to be a sports fan to participate – everyone will receive a “Don’t Give Up. . .Don’t Ever Give Up”® button to commemorate the effort.

Take action!
Register to enroll your company or school today!
Then, go ahead and download information from the SYS Download Center to get started early.  Some of the information is also available in Spanish.

In your SHOW YOUR SPIRIT kit you will receive:
• Show Your Spirit Day Poster
• “How to” Guide and Suggestions
• Personalized Participation Acknowledgement Certificate
• Collection & Return Envelopes and Collection Form
• “Don’t Give Up. . .Don’t Ever Give Up!” buttons or stickers for each contributor as well as a Cancer Facts/Jimmy V Information Card for each contributor.
Corporate Match – many companies will match their employees’ donations, doubling your contribution to cancer research.  Check with your human resources director for the procedure in your company!

Be creative and take your Show Your Spirit Campaign a step further.  Come up with ways to motivate your team:

• Create a survivor/memorial “wall” or display using the download templates and sell basketballs (link to download center “Visual Tribute”(Basketball) or “building blocks” (link to download center “Visual Tribute” (Traditional) for a display honoring survivors and remembering cancer victims to motivate your team and visibly show support for cancer research.

• Create competition in the office between departments (challenge another department to raise more, or match your department’s contributions).

• Create a competition between rival teams (for example Duke fans try to raise more money than Carolina or NC State fans;  Big East vs. ACC; etc.).

• Plan a Show Your Spirit event around the NCAA basketball first or second round match-ups.  Fill out your brackets, set up the TV’s and host a pot-luck to encourage employee interaction and launch the campaign.

• Challenge and encourage companies with whom you do business to join you in the campaign.

• Come up with your own unique idea – and then let us know about it!  Send pictures for the Jimmy V Website and future publications!

36 Employees of the National Captioning Institute in Vienna, VA raised $1115 (and thanks for a $300 company match).
These folks do captioning and subtitling for broadcasts worldwide (we're not going to ask who swiped the ESPN banner!).
