There’s a very good chance that The V Foundation has funded research specifically for that cancer type. While larger amounts have certainly gone to some of the most deadly and common cancers, such as lung cancer and leukemia, grants have been issued to fund cancers across the board. A small sampling would include colon, cervical, and pancreatic cancer but would not exclude Ewing’s Sarcoma or breast and prostate cancer.

True to Jim’s final wish, we want to find a cure for all cancers. That means that funding all types of cancer research is necessary. That means that funding cancer research across the board isn’t only a desire of ours, rather, it’s essential to The V Foundation’s call to action.

Just follow these 4 easy steps to make your Show Your Spirit day as successful as possible.

1.) REGISTER your business or school online at jimmyv.org/showyourspirit.  Once registered, you’ll receive your Show Your Spirit kit which includes everything you’ll need for a great day!

2.) ORGANIZE your campaign by selecting a day between March 18 and April 6 that works for you.

3.) TEAM UP to invite everyone to donate a minimum $5 dollar donation to The V Foundation.  Each participant gets to wear their team’s gear on your designated day.

4.) SHOW YOUR SPIRIT… you don’t have to be a fan to participate.  Everyone will receive a “Don’t Give Up… Don’t Ever Give Up” to commemorate your event.

Last year Applebee’s managed to raise $128,000 and this year they’re shooting for even more.  Help them make this goal a reality by supporting the restaurant and supporting The V Foundation.

Siegfried at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute has been awarded a V Foundation SPORE Grant.  The grant is in honor of Emily Miner, a 39 year old mother of two who was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer.  Dr. Siegfried will use the translational grant to support new clinical trials for lung cancer patients.

Lung cancer is the deadliest form of cancer for both women and men around the world.  More people die from this type of cancer each year than of breast, colon, and prostate cancer combined.  Since symptoms don’t appear in most patients until the disease is advanced, the survival rate beyond five years is very low.  With Dr. Siegfried’s work, hopefully this rate will begin to soar higher.

During this event, a foursome will be paired up with a celebrity for an afternoon of golf and camaraderie.

For $750, any individual can participate in the day’s activities AND help support cancer research. The Golf Classic will be held at the Cherokee Town and Country Club in Sandy Springs, GA. Your participation will help to fund a local grant, which will aid in our fight against cancer. We hope to see you on the green!
