Dr. Martin Abeloff is the Eli Kennerly Marshall, Jr., Professor of Oncology, Director of the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center and Oncologist-in-Chief of the Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health Systems in Baltimore, Md. Dr. Abeloff is a medical oncologist whose major research focus has been the management of solid tumors, particularly breast and lung cancer. Dr. Abeloff received his M.D. degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1966. He subsequently completed his residency training in internal medicine at the University of Chicago and the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. In addition, he received research training in hematology at the New England Medical Center and in oncology at the NCI-Baltimore Cancer Research Center. In 1972, Dr. Abeloff joined the faculty at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he has subsequently served as Director of Medical Oncology, Clinical Director and Head of the Medical Oncology Training Program. He currently holds academic appointments in the Departments of Oncology and Medicine in the School of Medicine and the Department of Environmental Health Sciences in the School of Hygiene and Public Health.
