15th Annual V Foundation Event Also Celebrates 75th Anniversary of Basketball at Madison Square Garden While Raising Money for Cancer Research


The V Foundation for Cancer Research, one of the nation’s leading cancer research fundraising organizations, is proud to announce the date of their 2009 Jimmy V Basketball Classic New York Dinner Auction which is presented in partnership with Madison Square Garden. The event will take place on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at PIER SIXTY at New York City’s Chelsea Piers and will be hosted by ESPN SportsCenter anchors Hannah Storm and Scott Van Pelt. Sponsorship opportunities and tickets for the event are also now available.

This year’s event celebrates the 15th Anniversary Jimmy V Basketball Classic as well as the start of the 75th season of basketball at Madison Square Garden and the conclusion of ESPN’s 30th anniversary. The Dinner Auction event will include the 2009 Jimmy V Women’s Basketball Classic head coaches Amanda Butler (Florida Women) and C. Vivian Stringer (Rutgers Women). Representing the 2009 Jimmy V Basketball Classic men’s teams, will be Jamie Dixon (Pittsburgh), Tom Crean (Indiana), Brad Stevens (Butler) and John Thompson III (Georgetown),

One hundred percent of all net proceeds from this event will fund cancer research projects through The V Foundation.  Some sponsorship packages also include Jimmy V Men’s Basketball Classic game tickets.
