The V Foundation Scientific Symposium & Exhibition Foundation To Host a Cancer Research Symposium With Distinguished Doctors

For the first time in North Carolina, The V Foundation for Cancer Research will host a cancer research symposium featuring a panel of distinguished doctors that have been funded by The V Foundation. Doctors and researchers who have received funding from The V Foundation from Duke, NC State, UNC, and Rex Hospital will speak about developments in cancer research made in our very own community. Duke’s panel members will include Dr. Victoria Seewaldt (Women’s Wellness Clinic focusing on breast cancer prevention) and Dr. Joseph Nevins (breast cancer therapy). The NC State panel features Dr. John Cavanaugh, Director of the Jimmy V-NC State Cancer Therapeutics Training Program. UNC panel members will include Dr. Jason Lieb (biological cancer research) and Dr. James Bear (cell and developmental biology cancer research). Rex Hospital's panel features Dr. Leroy Darkes (prostate cancer).
The symposium will include a Q&A session. Speakers will include members of The V Foundation’s Scientific Advisory Board, a panel of the best scientists, doctors, and PhDs in the cancer research field. There will also be a “hands-on” exhibit by area hospitals that serve the needs of those touched by cancer. This event will be open to the public at no charge.
