Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure and The V Foundation have jointly awarded a $1 million research grant to Dr. Hai Yan from Duke University Medical Center to further develop novel approaches to target gliomas.  This grant represents a unique collaboration among two top cancer organizations joining forces to fund research that holds the potential to dramatically improve the lives of patients living with brain cancer. The V Foundation for Cancer Research announced that seventeen physicians/scientists across the United States have been awarded two-year, $200,000 grants through the 2011 V Scholar program.

The V Foundation for Cancer Research, one of the nation’s leading cancer research fundraising organizations, has announced the nine recipients of their 2011 Translational Grants. These nine grants have been awarded to elite researchers across the United States.

Translational Grants are $600,000, three-year commitments designed to bring lab discoveries to the field. Often, information collected at the patient bedside can provide insight into laboratory findings and accelerate practical medical discoveries. This year’s nine recipients have concentrations in a variety of fields including leukemia, melanoma, and head and neck cancers.
